  33. The Joint Modular Languages Conference (JMLC) deals with languages,
  34. techniques, and tools for the design and implementation of large-scale
  35. software systems in  a modular and extensible way. It is the second
  36. conference with this name and a successor of the previous European and
  37. International Modula-2 Conferences which started in 1988. JMLC is 
  38. intended
  39. as a catalyst for novel ideas from both academia and practice. The
  40. conference will include invited talks, technical papers, and tutorials.

  42. Topics for technical papers include but are not restricted to:

  44. - Software engineering with modular languages
  45.   (Modula-2/3, Oberon, Ada, Java, etc.)
  46. - Industrial case studies
  47. - Educational issues
  48. - Programming environments and tools
  49. - Object-orientation, reusability, componentware
  50. - Safety critical and real time systems
  51. - Networked and distributed applications
  52. - Language design and implementation
  53. - Formal methods in software development

  56. Submissions

  58. Technical papers must be written in English and are restricted to 5500
  59. words including abstract and references. Full page figures count as 350

  89. Linz is located at the Danube, in the heart of Austria right between 
  90. Vienna
  91. and Salzburg. It is surrounded by the gentle hills of the Bohemian
  92. landscape to the north, and by the rising Alps and the famous 
  93. Salzkammergut
  94. with its lakes to the west. Linz is not only famous for its Ars 
  95. Electronica
  96. Festival, but also for Mozart's Linzer Symphony, for the composer Anton
  97. Bruckner, and for the astronomer Johannes Kepler.

  99. Linz has an own airport with direct flights to most cities in Germany 
  100. and
  101. Switzerland, as well as connections to all destinations worldwide with
  102. stopover in Vienna. Connections to Vienna are 2 hours by train or car.

  104. The conference will take place in the medieval castle of Hagenberg, an
  105. exclusive conference center and software park 20 km to the north of 
  106. Linz.
